Call for Submissions: 40th Anniversary!

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the magazine and we want to celebrate with an extra-long Spring issue and an accompanying CD full of rowdy Earth First! songs and other odes to the wild and to resistance.

The submission deadline for the magazine and CD is March 10, and we want to hear from you! We’re looking for reflections on Earth First! and other environmental/land defense campaigns past and present, personal essays on why you care about EF! (or don’t), and ideas for new tactics. Tell us what you miss about older Journals—should we still be ranting about cellphones? Have we gotten too tame? Not tame enough?

Where do you want to see Earth First!, and by extension, radical environmentalism, go in the decades to come? What movements and protests do you think are going to effect change in the next decade? Which ones have in the past decade?

And, as always, we want love/hate mail to the editorial staff, poems about your favorite fungus, drawings, photos, creative fiction, sabotage tips n’ tricks, and a plan to destroy ICE forever.

It’s easiest for us if you keep submissions to 3,000 words or less and format them as text documents, but honestly just send us what you can and we’ll handle the rest. Write it on a damn napkin if you have to! Call us up and recite it to us over the phone! We want to hear what you have to say.

Submit art and writing submissions to collective@earthfirstjournal.org or to PO Box 1112, Grants Pass, OR, 97528.

Submit music to ef40thanniversary@protonmail.com.

You can also help us maintain all these parts of our project by donating!
Checks, money orders, or cash can be sent by mail to PO Box 1112, Grants Pass, OR, 97528, or you can donate online to @earthfirstjournal on Paypal or Venmo.
