So it turns out the State of Montana has a system in place that could shut down the wolf hunting season in just one week. Here is how it works:
There is a provision within Montana’s wolf hunt legislation which allows for the shooting of “diseased” wolves as a part of the hunt quota. This provision allows the corpse to be left untouched (for fear of spreading the disease.) The cost to do so is a $19 wolf tag, the same as if you were to hunt wolf for game. However, no wolf body is required as proof of a kill. So, the would be collective of wolf hunt-saboteurs could purchase the entire state’s quota of wolf tags without actually killing a single wolf. Within one week the entire seasons quota of 220 wolf kills through these means would stop the slaughter for 4,180 dollars.
I wonder if something like this could work in idaho?
So what is going to keep hunters ,from shooting a wolf ,without a tag, and leaving it to rot.
how about you?
they sell more tags than actual kills. they close the hunt when the quota is met. really???
there is an ulimited number of tags available all you will do is fund the state fwp
